Academic Letter
Letters will be awarded at the beginning of the school year for the previous year’s accomplishments.
· A student must have completed one full semester at Ralston Valley High School.
· Students must carry the standard course load for a semester to be able to qualify for an Academic Letter (9th – 6 classes, 10th – 6 classes, 11th – 6 classes, 12th – 5 classes). Student assistant classes do not count toward the standard course load.
· A student’s semester class load must include a minimum of 4 classes that include any combination of English, math, science, social studies or world languages.
· Students must achieve a 3.8 weighted GPA for the semester grade.
· Student’s must not have earned a grade lower than a “C” during the semester.
Honors Diploma
To be considered candidates for an Honors Diploma, students must have earned at least a 3.6 weighted cumulative grade point average for their high school career and meet the additional following requirements:
· 18 academic credits during grades 9 - 12 (academic credits are those taken in
mathematics, science, world languages, English and social studies).
· Completion 4 credits of honors/AP courses. A minimum of 2 credits must be Advanced
Placement courses and must take the AP exam for those courses.
· Earn a “C” or better in all courses
· Follow the RVHS Honor Code
Distinguished Graduate
To be a Distinguished Graduate, students must have one of the top ten weighted grade point averages in the graduating class.
Valedictorian/Salutatorian Requirements
The student completing the requirements for an Honors Diploma who has the highest unweighted cumulative grade point average will be recognized as the Valedictorian of Ralston Valley High School. The student who has the second highest unweighted cumulative grade point average, rounded to the hundredth place, will be recognized as the Salutatorian. In case of ties, multiple awards will be given.
